Yesterday, we went to the specialist. It was a pretty good appointment. The doctor said that the baby looks like he's about average for his due date (he's in the 53% for size right now). Also, the blood flow through the cord is pretty good. These two factors alone significantly reduce my chances of getting Help Syndrome (the kind of toxemia/preclampsia I had with Lauren) with this pregnancy. Good news there.
Also, at this appointment, the nurse used their really cool technology to get some 3D images of the baby's face. They look really scary on the blog, but I promise, they look less scary at the ultrasound. But, then again, you have to take into account that they are still pictures taken of a moving person, that were then scanned into a computer, and then put on the internet, so some of the clarity is gone. Anyway, I got so used to seeing everything in a skeleton-like form that to actually see him with skin on his face while he is still inside threw me for a loop. I guess it's just one of those things that you really can't explain, it just has to be experienced. Just an explaination of the pictures....First of all, the nurse said it was like he is sitting in a bucket. His rear was down, but his feet & hands were up by his face (at least he's limber!). Second, a lot of his face looks distorted because shadows caused by stuff floating around inside there. Finally, that's the placenta to the left. Poor little kid needs a pillow to rest his weary head. :) I hope these pictures don't cause any sleep disturbances.

that is his foot overshadowing his face

if only we were guaranteed he would be this peaceful once he is born!
