Sorry.....no pictures

This is another one of those picture-free posts. I don't have a lot of them, so please be patient. There will be pictures posted on either Tuesday or Wednesday of Lauren's Valentine's pictures. Anyway, tonight in church, we started our Season of Prayer. Although Inter-City does theirs to start out the new year, we have ours right before our Evangelistic Emphasis week (this year, it's on church planting). To make a long story short, the service focused on the praying for the persecuted church in Pakistan. I'm not into the presentations that are meant to be all emotional and get you into an emotional frenzy. The presentation tonight was very factual, but in the midst of the facts, it pulled at your sense of compassion. Back in November, a Muslim man was upset at a Christian man, the Muslim got a mob together and bombed the churches, Christian schools, and houses of Christians in the area. I don't support putting my name on a million mailing lists, but this is one that is definately worth your time and effort. Copies of The Messenger, the quarterly newsletter from Frontline Missions, were handed out in church. The stories of our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ are very compelling. I get tempted to think that persectution was a thing of Paul and the Apostles, but it is still very real in our world today. I am suggesting that you go to the link for Frontline Missions website and sign up for their newsletter and ask for the Winter 2006 edition. I promise, you won't regret it. It puts the problems of our fast-paced, technology-focused lives in perspective.
