Last night at church, I had an eery deja vu. For those of you who knew him from Bob Jones or First of Troy, Tim Blakeney was struck by lightning yesterday afternoon. He is the soccer coach at a local Christian school. They were practicing outside yesterday when a sudden summer storm popped up. The lightning struck a player directly and then passed through to Tim. The boy died 30 minutes later from brain injuries. Today was his 18th birthday. Tim is still in the hospital with burns and other injuries. The doctors say he will make a complete recovery, though. On the news, when they showed the lightning strikes for the storm, the only strike in all of Spartanburg county was the one that hit the soccer field. For those of you from Inter-City, it reminded me of when Mr. Griffiths got struck. It was the first week of school and at a soccer event.
Here is the news story. Please pray for the families.
