Lauren's been asking what my wedding rings and Scott's wedding band means. So we tell her that mine says that I'm married to Daddy and his says that he's married to Mommy. The past couple of times when I've been putting ponytails in her hair, she puts the rubberbands around her finger and says "What's that mean, Mommy?" I tell her that I don't know, and she replies with "Says I'm married to [fill in with anything within eyeshot]." This includes Ally, Ryan (she's been in the south too long :) ), potty, toy paper (that's toilet paper- if I have her sit on the toilet lid to do her hair), wipes, etc. You get the picture. It's just kinda funny because she has no concept of what marriage means.
One last one.... If something happened a long time ago (ie, more than a year ago), we'll tell Lauren that it happened when she was itty-bitty. We drove by our old apartment the other day and I told Lauren that that's where Mommy and Daddy used to live. She quickly replied, in a voice about 3 octaves higher than usual, "When Lauren was itty bitty?" I told her no, and that it was before she was even born. I'm curious at what age kids are aware that life existed before them? Then, along that line, as we were leaving the Drive game last night, we drove by a high school where I used to teach. I told Lauren that that's where I used to work. In true form, she replied (in that same high, squeaky voice as just mentioned), "When she was itty bitty?" I just said "yep!"
