Valentine's Fun

Last Monday, our playgroup had a Valentine's party. I decided to make crayon hearts that I found in Parents or Parenting or one of those magazines. However, when I started the process, I didn't have heart-shaped muffin pans like you're supposed to use. I tried melting crayons on a cookie sheet and then I was going to use a heart cookie cutter to cut them out. After 2 1/2 hours of peeling wrappers off of crayons, I put them in the oven to melt. However, after I took the pan out of the oven, I realized it wasn't going to work. The underside was colorful, but the top side looked like something that you wouldn't let near your children.

Then, Scott found the right muffin pans at Target, so then I tried to melt the nastiness, thinking that maybe the colored side would melt and make them look presentable, however, that didn't work either.

Finally, I broke down and peeled crayons for another couple of hours. They finally turned out alright.

Those turned out really cute. Great idea. Bummer that you do it without having the pans.
