Vermont is beautiful this time of year.

I blame Christina for the post title. Ever since she said that she & Nathan were going to see White Christmas at the Fox, I've had nothing but lines from the movie running through my head. Thankfully, though, with the holiday season starting, there are a plethora of Christmas movies on TV. So, thanks to TiVo, I will be watching White Christmas, It's a Wonderful Life, & Miracle on 34th Street (the old version) countless times this holiday season.

Well, here's our Thanksgiving in review. (Unfortunately, there are no pictures to accompany this post, so just use your imagination.)

Last Saturday, the day we all remember for UM's 1st loss of the season, Lauren woke up with a nasty cold. The rest of us (Scott, Ryan, & me) all woke up Monday with the same joyous cold. We weren't able to make it up to MI for Thanksgiving, so we were just going to have a little family dinner. Tuesday, I went out grocery shopping, trying to beat the Wednesday rush. As I purchased the last of the food, Gwen Johnson called and invited us over to their place on Thursday. So, then, Wednesday, much to my chagrin, I went out shopping to get the stuff to take over to the Johnsons. (I highly recommend shopping as much before the holiday as possible. If you do go out shopping, at all costs, avoid WalMart at 8:00 on Wed night.) After taking approx. 10,000 mg of vitamin C, lots of chicken noodle soup, DayQuil & NyQuil every day, we woke up Thursday morning feeling pretty good. With the exception of some nasal drainage, we were healthy, so off to the Johnsons we went. We had a great time with their family. It was Terry & JoAnn and Kevin & Gwen Johnson, Danny & Kristen Brooks, & Kent & Ann Elmer. After dinner, the guys watched football for a while. After watching Detroit lose, they went and played soccer. The women gained control of the remote. :) There was a Doris Day-A-Thon on TCM, so it was endless hours of black-and-white-turned-colored movies. All in all, it was a good day, with one minor exception. Lauren was the perfect height for all of the tables. She smacked her head 5 times on different tables before we even sat down for dinner. She continued to run into tables the rest of the afternoon. Those are brain cells that we'll never see again. Oh well.

Anyway, after sleeping in a bit on Friday, we got up and put up our tree & decorated our house. It was quite fun. Lauren helped to hang the decorations. However, I had to go back through, and "encourage" her to hang ornaments somewhere else besides on this one branch. At one point, I believe, there were 4 ornaments hanging on one branch. Martha Stewart could take some decorating tips from Lauren. Think of how easy the cleanup would be. Just shake off the one branch, and wahlah.....it's done.

Saturday, we had our own Thanksgiving dinner. You may think it's gluttonous, but hey, I don't want the food going bad. Besides, when we go up to MI for Thanksgiving, we usually eat 2 whole dinners on Thursday (one for lunch and one for dinner).

And now, here we are on Sunday. The turkey soup is made and in the freezer and the rest of the food will be gone before too long, so bring on the Christmas movies. Vermont is beautiful this time of year, with all of that snow.

Sounds like a cool time with all those IC people from old. :) I read your post and then remembered all those johnson/brooks etc were in that area. You all must have had a great time.

Michael thinks the ornaments are quite tasty.
