Well, apparently when we get "snow" in the South, it makes national news. I saw a Fox News reporter out covering the snow/ice storm. Last Thursday we had about an inch of snow, followed by a wintry mix, then freezing rain. Lauren, in true southern form, freaked out about the snow and was all excited to go play in it. (We have to get this kid up north!) Thankfully, though, we were well prepared for the world to be turned upside down. We bought the kids some snowsuits and such in the fall so that when we went up to MI for Christmas, we would be ready for the snow. Well, in true MI form, the weather is unpredictable, and there was no snow. I know I went over kill for getting the kids dressed for the outdoors, but hey, how often am I going to be able to put boots on Lauren. The one positive to this, though, was that the snow didn't stick to the sidewalk or driveway--it was just slushy--so Matt, this one's for you: Total driveways shoveled: 0.

Lauren tried to make a snow/slush angel

Mmmm....What is this stuff?

Ryan did not want to be put down in that snow. He had no idea what to think of it. However, he did enjoy being held and watching Lauren play. However, trying not to be the partial mother, I tried to get pictures of him with the snow in the background, so I had to take pictures one handed. Here's a mental picture so you can excuse why the pictures look the way they do: I had Ryan on my right hip, but he was leaning down, as if trying to get down and play (but help us all if he actually touched the snow!). I then, had my left arm down as far as it would go with the camera pointed up. I couldn't see what I was taking a picture of, so that's why it's all off center.

One day it was a high of 35, the next was a high of 58.

We went for a wagon ride, and when I turned around, this is what I saw. This must be why those ride attendants at Cedar Point always say to "keep your hands and arms in the car at all times....and have a good day at Cedar Poiiinnt."

Your poor southern babies! We have about 5 inches here in OHIO, and though that is pretty typical for this time of year, I-70 was still a parking lot the day of the storm!
Thanks, Susan.
If you would like some more snow or subzero temperatures, just let me know. I'll pack it up and send it your way!
