A couple questions were brought to my attention lately. The first is for educators and parents of soon-to-be students. The second is for theologians.
First, in the Greenville paper last week, there was an article discussing if the schools should implement a grading floor of 62%. This means that the lowest grade a student could receive for a quarter would be a 62. Now I understand that some of you are thinking, an F is an F. Why give students a 50% if they only did work worthy of a 50%? Why bury them with percentages when they are failing no matter what the number is? However, seeing the epitome of laziness, students now blow off all work for the first part of a quarter, earning nothing lower than a 62 (for work not even turned in!) and then do menial work for the remainder of the quarter, earning about a 78 on work, and then wind up with a quarter grade in the 70s, therefore allowing the student to pass and receive full credit for the class. Like I said, I'm biased. Maybe I'm not seeing something correctly. What are your thoughts?
Second, a guest speaker at church made the comment that by the end of the Millennium, there will be more people in Heaven than there are in Hell. My first thought is what do you do with the passage that talks about the narrow way leading to life and the broad way leading to destruction. But then, he went on to say that by the time that you add up all miscarried and aborted babies in the world and the children who die before the "age of accountability", especially in the "third world" nations, the numbers start adding up quickly. I'm not sure what I think about that. Does anyone have any insight or thought about that?

Alright, I know this is VERY unpopular to say, but I'm gonna say it anyway. If this upsets anyone, I don't mean this to be rude or offensive. My comment is to your second question about the heaven/hell issue. I've never seen any clear passages in Scripture to say that babies who are miscarried or aborted go to heaven. I realize that it is easier to think this, but I don't see any Scripture to back this up. However, I will point out that I don't have any Scripture to say that they don't go to heaven or hell either. I just don't think the Bible is clear one way or the other. Just an opinion. Take it or leave it or leave a comment!
My comment is on the second part, too. Dave and I personally believe that God could do a work of grace in a baby's life, but we don't see anywhere in Scripture that it is a guarantee for unborn/young children. If the child was chosen before the foundation of the world, then he will be saved by God's Grace regardless of his age. No, I agree that it is not a popular stand to take, and it's not easy-especially having lost one, and having three young ones. It is comforting though to trust in a Holy God!
As the others have said there is no scriptural reference for this issue, but I choose to believe that our loving and gracious God would take miscarried & aborted babies into Heaven. My only reasoning is that they must go to either Heaven or Hell, right? If a God's grace is sufficient to keep me, then I believe it is sufficient to take those babies too.
